On Saturday, May 20th and
Sunday, May 21st, NEMBA built a new trail in Harold Parker
State Forest that extended the existing Salem Pond Loop.
The new trail is split into two sections by an existing
trail. One entrance of the new trail is across the
fire road from the Terry Trail. The other end can be
accessed by riding up a previously existing trail which is
just up the road from the bridge at the southern end of
Salem Pond.
If you want to ride both sections in the down
hill direction then... ride up the existing trail, take the
2nd left onto the eastern trail, turn left at the end
and go back up the existing trail, take next right onto west
side.

by a previously existing trail shown with red dashed

On Saturday, NEMBA & IMBA held a one day trail school during which
over thirty participants started construction of the new trail.
The trail school focused on construction of the section that
is east of the existing trail. The school participants worked
on both the layout and construction of the eastern trail. The
NEMBA website has
more info on the trail school. On Sunday, North Shore NEMBA held a trail care day
during which the western section was built. Joe and Dan had
already scratched out the western section which allowed for quicker
construction of the western side. Neither side was completed
during the weekend. However, a few of the North Shore
members worked on the trail during the following week and both sides
are now open for use.
